Minutes of Meeting – November 11, 2014

Call to Order – 7:10 P.M.
Adoption of Minutes – Motion # 14-033 was proposed:
THAT: The minutes of October 14, 2014 are accepted and approved, as presented.

Arena Manager’s Report – Bryan advised: Repairs had been required to the
Olympia Door at the back of the arena and had been carried out – a new spring had
been installed by Rivet Architectural. Also, we had some problems with the main hot
water tank, which we referred to the municipality. Our estimate for replacement from
Pritchard Mechanical had come in at $12, 000.00. Consequently, this issue and the
back-room heater, which was also in need of repair, were both directed to the
Operations Department by the chair. Bryan advised: the hot water tank had been
replaced under direction from the Municipality and the backroom heater will be looked
after, as well – in the new year. The home-team door on the ice surface had also been
repaired by Sound Barriers, at our expense.
The web-site was up and running. Bryan was in communication with Kristin on making
regular changes and updates.

Financial Report- Financials, YTD showed a $4,591.91 deficit on revenue of
$202,963.01. The revenue YTD was 61.5% of our annual forecast. Accounts Receivable
was at $49,117.81 - $44,100.55 being current, (90%).
New Business – Gary expressed some discontent with the new shower doors and
asked Bryan to have Bowmanville Glass come and take another look at how they are
operating. Water on the floor, outside the shower was still an issue. Bryan will report
back to the board.
Free public skating over the Christmas Holidays was being sponsored by both Tim
Horton’s and Ron King of Specialty Wealth – Tim’s Skate was for Dec. 22 and 29 and

Ron King’s was on New Year’s Day. Both will be advertised by the sponsors and on our
web-site and bulletin boards. The arena will be closed December 24, 25 and 26.
December 27 there was a one –day tournament scheduled. The arena board members
th
scheduled their December meeting for the 9 of the month, at the Massey House
th
Restaurant, with an invitation to the members spouses/partners to join us.
