Comments from the Councillors - Councillor Elhajjeh commented on the
proposal by Power Plus to install a Battery Energy Storage System on 12- 14
acres at Regional Rd 3 and Langmaid Rd. There were concerns voiced by
Greenbelt Waterkeepers . At this point there is no proposal but something to
watch locally.
He also mentioned that he has had complaints from folks who use the tennis
courts at the Solina Park. He will bring the issue forward at budget time to see if
they can move the date to improve the courts up to from the 2026 time frame.
There was a discussion about making it dual purpose tennis/pickle ball. Herb
also voiced his concern about the "pebbles " used in the play ground. Currently
wood chips are being used in place of this cover.
Old Business - Website - Karen and or Bev - to be discussed at the next
meeting
Dine and Learn - 10 people 1 donation - Italian Theme well
received - 10 people - $850 plus one donation of $75. All ingredients donated by
the Board.
Fire Doors - Folks still blocking doors open - Bev created a sign
- now on door to remind renters of fire regulation
- noted in rental agreement also
Councillor Elhajeeh will look into what other methods are being used to
" convince" renters that it is a fire regulation that must be adhered to.
Suggestions - 1. keep part of the deposit. 2. Put into contract what the actual
fine is for not adhering to this regulation.
Natural Weed Killer - Karen - worked well but too expensive to
use at the Park. It does not affect the roots so doesn't last long.
Floors - Karen and Jenny met with the gentleman from Higgins
Hardwood Flooring Peterborough.
Karen presented the quote to do the stage, main floor and the front stairs.
See details of quote attached. The total cost would be $8825.30. It would take a
week and it is better to have a week before it is used by the public.
Motion to sand main floor, stage and front stairs made by Herb Tink and
Seconded by Ron Whitbread. Carried
Possibly done thew first two weeks of January 2024.
Shawn Hinchey - approached us to modernize the hall - floors
light fixtures, cathedral ceiling all in dark wood. He would raise funds but they
basically wanted control of the finished product. We met with him and listened
to his proposal and also mentioned what we really needed was a bar on the
upper floor. Suggestions from all in attendance - Herb, Karen Jenny and Bev
that we could use part of the stage. Shawn was to discuss the possibilities of
this project. We have not had any word from him or his design team about this
project.
Water - Continues to be an issue but the Town is always there
to get us up and running and provide the water if there is an issue. They have
been in touch with the company providing the water softener but haven't been
able to solve the problem so far. A work in progress.
New Business - Air Conditioning - The fan on the blower of the outside unit
malfunctioned and has to be replaced. They are working on getting the motor
replaced.
