Meeting started at 7:08 pm
Committee did not achieve quorum so no items requiring a vote or motion were
discussed. The only items brought forward were updates from Pinder DaSilva and
Samantha Aitken on upcoming Black History Month events.
Samantha Aitken
• As there was not a full plan in place for a movie screening program in
February, the Library is not able to move forward with it.
• Library is open to planning a moving screening or another event later on
the year as they are interested in running programs outside of BHM if the
Task Force is interested.
• Rochelle Thomas indicated that she is okay with moving it to another time
of the year and that August may be a good option as it is Emancipation
Day.
Pinder DaSilva
• Vendor applications for Black Vendor Village were closed early as we
reached the maximum number (50)
• Marketing has switched to getting community members to attend the
event
• All performers for the opening ceremony are booked
• There will be 2 tables – one for Diversity Advisory Committee and one
for the Task Force. There will be a request for volunteers to be at the
booth coming out shortly.
• Will also send out the marketing poster for the committee members to
share within their network.
