Adoption of Agenda Moved by Rachel Traore, seconded by Councillor Hooper That the agenda of the meeting of June 26, 2019 be approved. Carried 2. Adoption of Minutes Moved by Rachel Traore, seconded by Ashfaque Choudhry That the minutes of the meeting of May 22, 2019 be approved. Carried 3. Land Acknowledgement Update A report which included the Diversity Advisory Committee's recommendation on the use of a Land Acknowledgement Statement was considered by General Government Committee on June 17, 2019. Mr. Mowat, Consultation, Lands and Membership Supervisor with Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation spoke to Council as a Delegation to provide some background on the report. The report was referred back to staff for the September 23 General Government Committee to confirm that all peoples listed in the statement have shared their agreement with the proposed wording. 4. Committee Workplan 2019 / 2020 Development The Committee discussed the draft workplan for the coming year. A few items were selected to begin work over the summer months by subcommittees who will report back to the whole committee in the fall. Moved by Rachel Traore, seconded by John Sawdon That a subcommittee be formed to work on a community survey. Members in the group are Rachel Traore, Derryck Lamptey, Councillor Hooper and Erica Mittag and other committee members who may express an interest. The above motion was amended to include that the subcommittee will work on the draft of the workplan as well. Carried Moved by Rachel Traore, seconded by Ashfaque Choudhry That an Events Subcommittee is formed by interested committee members. Carried Moved by Ashfaque Choudhry, seconded by Rachel Traore That a Communications Subcommittee is formed by interested committee members. Carried 5. Other Business A BBQ or social get together will be planned by the Survey / Workplan Subcommittee. More information to follow. All are welcome. The Municipality of Clarington is hosting a Canada Day celebration on July 1 at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex. There will be a sensory break zone with equipment courtesy of a grant received from the Frank Cowan Company.
