"CARRIED" Council Minutes - 2 - February 8, 1988. DELEGATIONS • COMMUNICATIONS • • Rick Rajca, 321 Elgin Street, Oshawa on behalf of 4 property owners, requested that Council upgrade the road allowance between Lots 2 and 3 on Concession 6 (Gibbs Road) to a standard which will upgrade it to a point where it could be reclassed as "maintained access" with the burden of the project cost to be shared by the ratepayers of land adjacent to the subject road and the Town. Mr. Rajca would like to build on his lot within the next year. Mr. Ronald Harnden, President, Select Office Systems, Box 625, Cobourg asked Council to review the company's bid on Tender T87 -88 - Systems Furniture for the Town Hall. Mr. Harnden is of the opinion that his Company has offered the Town of Newcastle the two most attractive bid offerings submitted. Box 481, Oshawa, L1H 7L5 requesting the Town of Newcastle to donate a prize to this year's Salmon Derby event be received; AND THAT the subject request be referred to Community Services for review and recommendation as to a suitable prize. Box 1201, Station B, Oshawa, L1J 5Z1, requesting that the Town of Newcastle proclaim the month of May 1988 as Carnation Month be received; AND THAT the request referred to herein be approved and advertised in accordance with Town Policy; AND FURTHER THAT Don Webb be advised of Council's decision. Councillor Hamre's husband is employed by Bell Canada who operates the 911 system. Evans, Durham Region Fire Co- ordinator, Town of Ajax, 65 Harwood Avenue South, Ajax submitting a fee schedule related to the 9I1 Emergency Telephone Dialing System for the Regional Municipality of Durham for review and consideration be received and referred to the Fire Chief and Treasurer for review at budget discussions. "CARRIED" Resolution #C -9I -88 Moved by Councillor Hamre, seconded by Councillor Hubbard THAT the correspondence dated January 18, 1988 from Anne Derrett, Spokesperson, Residents Against Mailboxes, 52 Addington Square, Unionville, L3R 7N1 requesting Council's support of a resolution introduced by Mr. Don Cousins, M.P.P. - Markham urging the Government of Canada to direct the Canada Post Corporation to immediately abandon its supermailbox program; halt all projected installations of supermailboxes; remove all supermailboxes at existing sites and to relandscape the area they occupied; and restore home delivery to all affected residences; be received; AND THAT the request referred to herein be endorsed; AND FURTHER THAT a copy of this endorsement be sent to Anne Derrett, Spokesperson, Residents Against Mailboxes, and to the Parliament of Canada. Councillor Hubbard asked the Mayor to report on Resolution C -67 -88 which directed the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer to attend at the appropriate Ministry Office regarding the O.H.A.P. Funds. Councillor A. Cowman made a declaration of interest relative to O.H.A.P. Fund matter, vacated her chair and refrained from discussion and voting on the subject matter. Councillor Cowman is a Courtice property owner who could be affected by a decision relative to the O.H.A.P. Funds. Mayor Winters reported that he sent a letter and is awaiting a reply.
