Mayor Rickard and Members of Council—
The following is a report of a meeting of the Finance Committee held in the
Committee Room of the Bowmanville Town Hall on Monday, August 23, 1976:
1. Retail Sales Tax
(a) It was recommended to Council that the report of the Treasurer, dated
August 9, 1976 with regard to retail Sales Tax be received for information.
(b) and that a copy of the Treasurer's report be sent to Senior Staff.
2. Insurance Coverage
It was recommended to Council that the Treasurer's report, dated August 10,
1976, relative to Insurance Coverage be adopted and the Chairman's report
on the matter be received for information and forwarded to Council. (Copy
of Report attached)
3. Providence Cemetery Assets
It was recommended to Council that the Treasurer and Clerk be authorised to
investigate the means of recovery of the Providence Cemetery Assets in the
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Bowmanville with power to take the
necessary action.
4. Rental Agreement Bowmanville Police Office
It was recommended to Council that the Special Committee's Report relative to
increase in rental for the Bowmanville Police Station be adopted.
5. Uniforms
It was recommended to Council that Mrs. Ovenden, the Parking Enforcement
Officer for Orono and Newcastle be provided with a uniform.
6. Mileage Claims
It was recommended to Council that the Mileage Claims as presented by the
Treasurer and detailed in the minutes under Resolution #F-340-76 (a) be paid.
7. Statement of Accounts
It was recommended to Council that the Statement of Accounts paid for July,
1976, as per resolution #C-76-826, be received for information.
8. Photocopy Machine
It was recommended to Council that the Treasurer be authorised to arrange for
the installation of a new rented Photocopy Machine.

9. Proposed Police Change-over
It was recommended that the Regional Council be asked to advise Council what the
financial impact of the proposed change-over in policing will be.
10. Meeting on Finances
It was recommended that the Mayor convene a meeting of Council with the Board
of Education and Region with regard to future financing and that the meeting
be held in Camera and that the meeting be held on September 17, 24, or October
1, 1976.
