BACKGROUND 1.1 Our report covers the month of May, 1995. It is our intent to provide Committee with information relevant to this department, in a timely manner. 2. REPORT 2.1 The department responded to 125 calls in May and recorded total fire loss at $182,150. A breakdown of the calls responded to is listed below. Captain Mark Berney, Firefighter Ted Ruiter and Captain Gordon Weir received their diplomas for successful completion of the Fire Technology Program. Fire Prevention Officer, Randy Reinert, also received his diploma, but was unable to attend the graduation ceremonies. Continued..... 802 FD-10-95 - 3 - 2.3 3 -2.3 The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs' 1995 Conference was held in Belleville this year from May 7 - 11th. One of the key issues that stemmed from the conference was the need for a review of the Fire Department Act. The executive of the O.A.F.C. will be approaching the new provincial government in an attempt to get this review started within 18 months. I will be serving on a Professional Development Committee. The mandate of this ' committee is to establish criteria for the professional development of members of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs. i 3.
