3 -2.2 Staff is presently looking into the possibility of starting a Junior Firefighter's
Program in the summer of 1995. This program provides a course on Fire Safety
to children in the 10 to 12 age group and also gives them some basic first aid
training. If staff is able to get this program ready for the summer of 1995 it will
be presented to Council during the 1995 budget deliberations for their
consideration.
2.3 As Committee is aware, Ontario Hydro presented the municipality with a 1979
Pumper. This vehicle is being safety checked and licenced in order that we can
begin to use it for training, as soon as possible.
2.4 The department's budget forecast for part-time firefighters for 1994 continues to
be within the amount set for this area. It is a anticipated that we will fall within the
overall department forecast for the current year.
