BACKGROUND 1.1 This report covers the second quarter of 1994. 1.2 During the second quarter the majority of the calls and losses occurred in the month of April. This was due in part, to the cold weather and continued use of fire places and heating equipment. COiUIMENTS 2.1 During this quarter the pumper ordered in 1993 was received and after a period of training was placed in service. 2.2 The Clarington Fire Department hosted a Fire Cause Determination Course in May. It was attended by members of the eight fire departments in the region as well as members of the Durham Regional Police. It was a great success and was well received by all who attended. 2.3 Deputy Chief Hesson completed his Fire Technology Program at the Ontario Fire College in May and will receive his diploma later this year. 2.4 The hiring process for the new recruits was a major time consumer in this quarter and, I am pleased to say, reaching completion. 3.
