COMMENTS 2 . 1 There would appear to be an increase in medical assist calls over the same period last year. In 1993 we were called to assist four times in January, five times in February and thirteen times in March. 2 .2 . Although our assistance was required on the majority of these calls there still appears to be some occasions where we are not required. The increase in March could be due to the change in supervisors at the Ambulance Dispatch Centre, which recently took place. Continued. . . . . FD-3-93 - 3 - 2 . 3 The Regional Fire Chiefs are meeting with the ambulance service supervisors on May 6, 1993 in an attempt to eliminate the unnecessary calls throughout the Region of Durham. It is a concern in all the municipalities in the Region. Although it is improving, it still requires refinement. 3 . RECOMMENDATIONS 3. 1 It is respectfully recommended that Report FD-3-93 be received for information. Respectfully submitted, Approved for presentation to Committee r- 6' Michael G. C ighton, AMCT(A) ,CMM1 Lawrence E. Kots f , Fire Chief. Chief Administra i" Officer. MC/sr April 2, 1993 . c:i i t
