SUBJECT: 1990 FIRE RESPONSES
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that Report FD 1-91 be
received for information.
1. BACKGROUND
1. 1 This Report has been prepared to give Committee and
Council a summary of the occurrences to which the Town
of Newcastle Fire Department responded in 1990.
1.2 Included in this Report is a comparison of the years
1987 to 1990 for information purposes.

2 .2 The total fire losses, by category, are as follows:
Building Loss - $697,200
Content Loss - $347,750
Vehicle Loss - $259,200
Other Losses - $7,250
TOTAL LOSSES - $1,311,400
There was also one fire related death in 1990 .
2 .3 A comparison of total fire responses for the past four
years, along with the percentage of increase, is listed
below:

Responses for Station #5, prior to its opening in July,
1990, were included in the totals for other Stations.
2 .4 Major advances in 1990 for the Town of Newcastle. Fire
Department would include the introduction of Central
Dispatch and the opening of Station #5 (Enniskillen) , both
of which occurred in July.
