HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 06-02-53 June 2, 1953. Darlington Council met this day with the Reeve presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were read and on motion adopted. On motion of G.B.Rickard and Ross Stevens the Council pay the hospital Board $1000.00 as half of the grant. Communications were read and ordered filed. The general accounts were read and on motion were ordered paid. E.A.Varcoe addressed Council re-building inspection and asked to have the 45.00 permit payment on issue of permits. On motion of Ross Stevens and E.F.G.Vice this Council give E.A.Varcoe permission,to collect the full 15.00 fee for a permit when issued. On motion of -E.FG.Vice and Ross Stevens , pQ.R.Pickell was appointed Weed Inspector for 1953. Considerable discussion took place regarding spraying weeds and brush on road sides. On motion of G.B.Rickard and E.F.G.Vice this Counil spend not more than $300.00 for geed and brush spraying. Earl Trewin addressed Counil and stated that he believed he got shipping fever in his cattle from the spraying of cattle for warble fly, the germ being carried from his neighbours by those doing the spraying. The Glerk to contact Dr. Werry and ascertain whatwasthe matter with Mr. Trewin's cattle and if necessary to contact the Chief Inspector of the Department. The Road Supt. presented his repprt and vouchers for May which were on motion accepted and vouchers ordered to be paid. The question of selling a pile of lumber(poplar) in the yard came up and Council decided to sell it for $50.00. Ross Stevens addressed Council re- their meeting with Mr. N.H.Donald, Inspector of Legal Offices at the Registry Office. On motion of Ross Stevens and G.B.Rickard this Council apply for a Judges plan on part of Lot 35 Con. 2 & 3, that is south of Highways 2 to the creek and North to 4th Con. in Lot ;5.
