HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 09-03-53 HAMPTON, September 3, 1953. Darlington Council met this day with all Members present and Reeve Nichols presiding. Minutes of last meeting were read and on motion adopted. Permission was given to the Misses Ramsay to move the abuttment at C.N.R. to be used for breakwater On motion of R.C.. Stevens and e,.B.Rickard the Clerk write the South Darlington Area School Board and ask them to meet the CouncilSeptember 9th at 8 o'clock sharp.' The Public School Inspector and W.R.Strike to be notified also. Letter was read from Alvin Metcalfe to the effect that he was claiming damages to the amount of 20% to tomato crop on 6 acres, due to road side spraying , of needs. Clerk to write Municipal World and ask if Township Council are responsible to farmer's crop that may be damaged by spraying weeds and brush on road sides. Petition was read from Ratepayers of Hampton Village re-road over mill dam. Clerk to write Bennett Construction and find cost of this work. Communications were read and ordered filed. W.H.Trewin addressed Council re-road through his field. Mr. Treewin agreed to pay $1.00 and Council agreed to grade laneway. The Road Supt. presented his report and vouchers for August which were on motion accepted and vouchers ordered to be paid. The general accounts were presented and on motion ordered to be paid. On motion of R.C.Stevens and M. Tabb the Clerk write a letter of appreciaticm to General Motors and Department of Highways.
