HomeMy WebLinkAbout1954-06-04 Hampton, June 4, 1954. Darlington Township Council met this day with the Members all present, Reeve Nichols presiding.. The minutes of last meeting were read and on motion adopted as r=ad. On motion of G.B.Hickard and E.F.G.Vice thisCouncil have 2500 copies of By-law :4 2003 printed. On motion of R.R.Stevens and E.F.G.Vice theClerk notify Arthur Found and Chas Osborne and Road Supt. to attend at Wade° s Crossing on June 8th, at 10.30 A.M1. to meet District Engineer of C.P.R. Clerk to reply to letter re-Walter Frank and state that Council are of the opinion that the family can pay one half of costs. By-Law -1�4_' 2002 for School Debentures was given its third reading, signed, sealed and numbered. Richard Gibbs requested Council to have hill by his property cut down. Council stated that it would be necessary to have the District Municipal Engineer look this over. On motion of E.F.G.Vice and Percy Werry this Council authorize the Reeve and Treas. to sign cheques and pay the Contractor of School Buildings on request. On motion of G.B.Rickard and E.F.G.Vice the Clerk write the Municipal Board ask:Ing who should a contractors for building of new schools g pay g Townshipof School Board. Can the Township hand over the total sum of Debenture to School 3oard to pay for buildings. On motion the Council pay the School Board an advance on Teacher's salaries to the amount of $10,500.00 On motion of R.C.Stevens and Percy Werry the Clerk contact the O.P.Police and state that a second delegation had visited Coumcil requesting the Council to provide , more police protection. The General accounts were read and on motion ordered to be paid. Road Supt. presented his report and vouchers for May which were on motion accepted and bills ordered to be paid. Harold Skinner, Inspector of Warble Fly Spraying presented his report as to payments in this regard NEU and number of cattle treated. W.R.Pickell, Weed Inspector made a report on the ',deed situation. Clerk to write F.J.Donevan and inquire when he will be ready to go ahead with the survey work. General discussioh took place. Moved by G.B.Rickard and E.F.G.Vice this Council call for app= lications for a man as an assistant _to Clerk Treasurer and Tax Collector and general office work. Ads to appear in Statesman amd in Oshawa Times Gazette for two weeks. On motion Council adjourned.
