S.'R.M- orton appeared demonstrating the Mail Chain Saw. Moved by Councillor Werry and Deputy Reeve Vice that Clerk get prices from local de4ers arr i�d. Moved by Deputy �eeve Vice and Councillor Werry that Lloyd Slemon be paid for 19 hours dragging in 1954, and 8 hours dragging in 1955 at' l.75 per hour. Carried. Mr. Jones, of Jones Real Estate presented plan for a proposed sub- division in Lot 311 Concession 4,Darlington. Plan to be Wk and presented to Council later. By-law to set tax rates for 1955 was given its several readings and on / A motion ordered signed,sealed and numbered 2021`J;- By-law to authorize the issuing of Debentures for Public School Building was given its first and second readings. Moved by Councillors Ifferry and Stevens that Clerk have tax bill forms printed. Carried. Petition from Hampton re dump was referred to Road Supt. Petition from Hampton re sidewalks. W.B.Bennett to be contacted for prices and reported at next meeting. By-law to amend By-law 2003 to attach Schedule "A" was given its first and second readings. Letter from Gerald Balson re buying the old Maintainer. Clerk to ask Mr. Balson for an hourly rate on moving Bulldozer. Moved by Councillors Stevens and Werry that Resolution 141,re Expenditure for High School Debentures be passed. Carried. Meeting to open Tenders for Maintainer on April 14 9 2 P.1,1. Planning Board Meeting on April 19 at 8 P.M* Moved by Councillor Stevens and Deputy Reeve Vice that Mr. Hogarth and Road Supt. arrange to purchase necessary land from Chas. Rankine to straighten road in Concession 8, Lot 14, Township of Darlington. Carried. Moved by Councillor Stevens and Deputy Reeve Vice that Mr. Hogarth and Road Supt. stake out land needed for road in Concession 6 from Mr. Moore and Mrs. and get prices from both es= A Carried. Mr. Geo. Richards, General Accident Assurance Co., explained the Insurance Policy re Warble Fly and Weed Spraying. No high volatile sprays to be used. Added premiums $32.50 and Contractor' s name to be furnished, to cover contractor. Meeting adjourned. CLERK* HE nS the Board of Trustees of the Durham County High Scho_l District have applied to the iunicipal Councils having jurisdiction in the said High ,School District for the issue of debentures in an amount not exceeding P2202000.00 repayable over a period of twenty (20) years to provide for the cost of building an addition to the new high School presently under construction for the said District at Port hope and for the purpose of building a further addition to the addition presently being constructed to the existing Nigh School at Bgvgmlanville; BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Corporation of the i'ownship of Darlington, being a municipality included or partly in- eluded in the said nigh School District, hereby approves the said application and agrees to assume its proper proportion of the amounts required to pay for the said debentures and interest thereon and the expenses connected -therewith to be determined from time to time in the manner provided by the Secondary Schools and Board of Education 4Lct. BE I1 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the Corporatio-_ of the Township of Darlington hereby requests the Council of the United Co----ties of �Torthu-Mberland and Durham to raise the entire sum of ;'220,000.00 -required for the purposes aforesaidv the s b,, issue of debentures of the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham.
