HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-06-02 i NA,9PTON9 JIGI E 2, 1 9 5 5 0 Darlington Township Council met in the Township Hall on the above date with all Members present* Minutes of regular meeting on May 5th., and of special meeting on May 18, 1955, were read and on motion of Councillor Stevens and Deputy Reeve Vice were approved as read. Moved by Deputy Reeve Vice and Councillor Osborne that W.B®Bennett Paving Co. Ltd., be engaged to lay a 2 inch thick hot :nix asphalt pavement on the Townline Road from King St, Ns�p-to the City Limits at a price of X7,50. per ton of asphalt, the City of Oshawa to be paid for 50 per cent of the cost of the work, the cost of supervision and the cost of treating the road with pane dust layer by Darlington Township, and the work tc be supervised by the City of Oshawa. Carried. Jos. Crawford asked Council to clean out ditch on west side of road 7 at Lot 23, Con. 4. Referred to Road Committee with power to act.. No action was taken on proposal of Representatives of Bell Guinlock Co. to give agreement of sale of Public School Debentures. A delegatign from the 7th Concession asked Council to improve the 7th. from Scugog Road East,o A By-law to regulate the erection and provide for the safety of buildings and structures was given its several readings and on motion of Councillors Werry and Osborne, ordered signed,sealed andnumbered 2023. Moved by Councillor Stevens and Deputy Reeve Vice, that Clerk apply to Municipal Board to have hearing on By-law 2022 without individual notice. Clerk was instructed to write Coanties' Road Engineer Mr. Totten, asking Counties to look after the paving job at Enniskillen. Letters from IA.-. Allin and 1r. Scott, and petition re Tile Drainage was laid over to special meeting.. Thr. Allin requested that the MWOUTY Township clean up roadside by his farm. Referred to Road Committee, Mr. Alfred Allin brought up the matter of leasing a gravel beach to the Township. Action in the matter was deferred to special meeting. Clerk to investigate the possibility of preparing By-law to curb the nuisance of dogs running at large. Moved by Councillor berry and Deputy Reeve Vice that Weed Inspector be given authority to hire men with mowers to cut weeds on roadsides, and that Weed Inspector be authorized to purchase a portable sprayer to spray weed patches on roadsides. Carried. Walter Frank bill was referred to special meeting, Clerk to obtain legal opinion as to leins,mortgages etc. in this matter. Clerk was instructed to ask Mr. Gregg, Dept of Ag riculture if he is able to make a survey of watercourse on Gravel Pit Road. Road Supt. presented his report and accounts for May, which were on motion of Deputy Reeve Vice and Councillor Osborne, ordered paid. General accounts were presented and on motion of Councillors Stevens and Osborne ordered paid. Dominion Road Co. cheque to be held until June 20,1955• On motion, special meeting to be held in June to deal with, Area of Sub-division Control By-law, Tile Drainage Act petition,Vtialter Frank bill, Allen graveliba.se, and Dog By-law.
