Report #: CS -15 -00 By -law # Subject: DARLINGTON SPORTS CENTRE - REFRIGERATION PLANT Recommendations: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. THAT Report No. CS -15 -00 be received, 2. THAT the necessary Funds be drawn from the Property Management Capital Reserve Fund Account #5001 -38 -X, and 3. THAT Council ratify the actions taken by staff. 1.0 BACKGROUND 1.1 During our fall start-up procedures at the Darlington Sports Centre, staff was advised that one of the compressors was in need of replacement and the second required an overhaul. 1.2 Total cost is estimated at approximately $27,000. (Attachment #1) which is not budgeted for in the 2000 Operating Budget. Staff had identified this work to be completed in 2001 (page 423) and 2002 (page 437) through the four year capital budget forecast. 1.3 An immediate decision to proceed with the work was required, as ice - making procedures were to start on Monday September 18, 2000. Delay to the start-up of the plant would jeopardize the start of the ice season, impacting numerous user groups. 1.4 Discussion with the Chief Administrative Officer and the Treasurer provided direction for staff to proceed with the work. 7 ..../2 REPORT NO.: CS -15 -00 2.0 RECOMMENDATION PAGE 2 2.1 Staff is recommending that Council ratify the action taken by staff and that the source of funding for the works be approved from the Property Management Capital Reserve Account #5001 -38 -X.
