THAT Report No. CS -11 -00 be received; 2. THAT parking fees for Orono Park be waived on July I' (Canada Day); and 3. THAT Mr. John Fletcher be advised of actions taken. 1.0 BACKGROUND 1.1 Correspondence from Mr. John Fletcher, a member of the Orono Canada Day 2000 Committee (Attachment #1) was received and subsequently referred to staff for report. 1.2 For the past number of years, it has been customary for Service/Business Groups to sponsor a free "Canada Day Swim" at the municipally operated outdoor pools. On these occasions, the Community Services Department has accommodated those groups by invoicing the respective sponsors for the number of swimmers using the pools. 1.3 This process has proved successful in the past, and arrangements have been made to provide for the same process this year. 1.4 Each year the Orono Canada Day Committee has requested that the parking fees in the Orono Park be waived and to date, the parking fee has been waived for this special occasion. 1001 .../2 REPORT NO.: CS -11 -00 2.0 COMMENT PAGE 2 2.1 The Community Services Department supports the efforts of our volunteer committees, and recommends that Council waive the parking fees at the Orono Park for the Canada Day 2000 celebration. We further request that as in previous years you waive any parking fees that might be imposed during the event. The committee thank you for your consideration.
