Darlington Council met this day with the members all present.Reave W.R.Pickell presiding
The notes of the last meeting were read and on motion adopted asre R.R.Stevens reported
having looked over the bwn on the Clayton property and found it in fair shape.The-,10ounoil
decided to make an offer on the building for an in&lement shed.
On motion of R.K.Squair and R.R.Stevens,Durham, Central Fair and South Ontario Agricultural
Society be given the same grants as lest year.The bills were read and on motion were
ordered to be paid.
By-Taw for closing road through the Internment Camp was introduced, on motion given its
first reading.A petition signed by 12 ratepayers who would be more or less effected by the
closing of said road,was read,protesting against the closing of this roed.On motion of
R.R.Stevens and S.E.White, the by-law was laid on V e tableuntil the council could get
more information from the District Engineer,Mr.Poynton.
. C..LPoynton visited the council and advised them that the request for closing this road
had dame from the Department of National Defence at Ottawa and advised that it should be
closed,On notion. of R.R.Stevens and S.E.17hi te,the Clerk was instructed to write The
Ontario Municipal Board and ask thew for a Board hearing of the case,and also for the
closing of a, piece of road. at Tooleys Hill.
On motion of R.Y.Squair and Arthur Mil,lson,signs for a speed limit of 30 miles per hour
be erected in the Ullage of Hampton.
T,H.Richards presented his report and vouchers for July which were on motion accepted and
Vou,chers ordered to be paid.
A complaint was laid that Oliver McCullochhad laced. a nuisance on the should '
p sr of the
roaad near his place.The Clerk was instructed to write Mr Mooug
. 1®ch to the effect that
he t remote the rubbish off the road,or the Council will have to move it at his expense.
