Darlington Township Council Inaugural meeting was held in the
Township Hall, on the above date, at 1.30 P.M. Oath of Declaration of Office was
administered the '"embers Elect: Reeve Roy W. Nichols, Deputy Reeve, Garnet B. Rickard,
Councillors Earl B. Trull, Allan Thompson and Fred G. Smith.
Rev. Reed delivered an address to Council which was very appropxate
es. for the occasion.
Deputy Reeve Rickard moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Reed for his
services.
1. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and on motion of
Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Thompson adopted as read. -
2. Moved by Councillors Trull and Smith that the Rules of Procedure
as read to this Council, with modifications, be adopted, and that the Clerk have a
number of copies printed.
3. Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Thompson that A10.00
-"embership Fee be paid to Ont. Assoc. of Rural Municipalities.
Moved by Councillors Smith and trull that $10.00 Membership Fee be
paid to Ont. Good Roads Assoc.
Mr. Hartwell Lowry, Clarke Township Council, with a delegation from
Clarke Township, visited Council re agreement on Townline Road (Clarke Twp.
5. Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith, that hourly rates for
Road Employees be set at 81.35 for Operators and $1.15 for Labour.
6. Moved by Councillor Smith and Trull that salary of Road Supt. be
increaded A290.00 to AL250.00.
1 . Moved by Councillors Smith and Trull that Res. �c 6 be rescinded.
8. Moved by Councillors Smith and Trull that Road Supt' s Salary be in-
creased by x:500.00 to P�LL500.00.
9. Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Thompson that statuatory
penalty of 21/4 be added to current unpaid taxes at the end of 1957 and each year
thereafter.
10. Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that the General Accounts to
the amount of $16539.01, be paid.
11. On motion of Councillors Trull and Thompson, Statuatory Bank '`esolution
for the signing officers for 1957 be passed as read.
12. On motion a By-law for the authorization of borrowing money from the
Bank of Montreal to the amount of $100000.00 , was given its several readings and
0_ ordered signed, sealed and numbered ,2063_

13. Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Smith that salary of
Miss Niddery be set at $2860.00 per annum.
15. Moved by Councillor Trull and Dep. Reeve Rickard that Councillor F.G.
Smith and Councillor A. Thompson be Representatives to the Darlington Township
Planning Board for the year 1957.

14. Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that salary of Clerk-Treas.,
be set. 4 0.00.
