HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-02-07 SOLINA, FEBRUARY 7, 1957. Darlington Township Council met in the Solina Community Hall on the above date with all Members present, Reeve Nichols presiding. Minutes of last meetings were read and on motion of Deputy Reeve Rickard and. Councillor Thompson were adopted as read. The suggested Boundary Road Agreement from Clarke Township was studied. Moved by Councillors Smith and Trull that Road Supts. of the two Municipalities study road and bring in estimate for 1957 expenditure. Finance Co. Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Trull be Finance Committee for 1957. Ricard McKnight appeared re application for wrecking yard license, and was referred to County authorities. Moved by Councillors Trull and Thompson that Township By-law Enforcement - Officer inspect premises of J. Chaskavich and report to Council. Mr. Isaac Hardy appeared re given road allowance in Lot 28 Con. 5. Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that road from 6th line to I. Hardy`s be improved this year. ;fir. McKeen appeared re 1'icense under By-law No. 2021 . Permit to be issued if fence erected by April 15, 1957. Mr. Albert Hills appeared with a Delegation from Tyrone re paving road from Guide Board Corner to Tyrone (6th Con.) Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Smith that the above be given priorty in making 1957 road program. Harold Skinner appeared re Weed and Brueh Control. No action was taken. Letter from Worden and Werry re road referred to Road Supt. Letter from H.E.Rundle re road. referred to Road Supt. Letter from S.E.White was read resigning from Planning Board. This was deferred to March meeting. Moved by Councillor Trull and Deputy Reeve Rickard that Councillors Agrie. Com. Smith and Thompson be Agricultural Committee for 1957. Moved by Councillors Smith and Thompson that Agricultural Committee be Warble Fly Insp. authorized to engage Warble Fly Inspector for 1957. Moved by Councillors Trull and Thompson that this Township grant the X Salvation ,irmy 1100.00. Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Trull that we join the O.S.T.R.A. and Clerk or Deputy attend Convention as delegate. Moved by Councillors Smith and Thompson that this Township donate to Memorial Hosp. Bowmanville Memorial Hospital X2000.00, one half payable in June and balance payable in December. Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Thompson that- Clerk write Mayor of Oshawa thanking them for the e 'fecient way in whichthe- ' iia dled Leask fire. Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Trull &` the General accounts to the amount of 9 17716.79 be paid. Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that the Road accounts totalling 1� 7660.27 be passed. Res. 1. Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and seconded by Councillor Smith that this Council obtain an option to z'urchase part o" of Kenneth & Mildred Caverly in Lots 17-18 , Con, 5, Darlington, within tree (l) months, the purchase price not to exceed $2500.00, and that $100.00 be paid over to bind the option, same to be part of purchase price, and that the Reeve and Clerk be hereby authorized to sign all necessary documents pertaining thereto. Res. 2 Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and seconded by Councillor Thompson that the one acre of land deeded to the Township of Darlington by Blake L. Stevens, being part of Lot 24 in the 6th. Concession of Darlington, and registered in the West Durham negistry Division as No. 2078, is hereby declared to be a past of Solina Community Hall property, and that it is to be used only for such purposes as are designated by the Board of Management of the Solina Community Hall. Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that this Council advertise for Tenders for gravel crushing, 10000 yards more or less in 2 settings in the Township. Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that W.L.Lycett be engaged as Assessor for the Township at A 3400.00 per year plus $600.00 car allowance per annum, to be paid in 24 equal installments.
