Darlington Township Council Inaugural Meeting was held in the
Township Hall, Hampton, on the above date, at 1.30 P.M. All Members present.
Oath of Office was administered to Members Elect.
Reeve Roy W. Nichols
Deputy Reeve Garnet B. Rickard
Councillors Earl B. Trull
Fred G. Smith
Allan Thompson.
Rev. Fred Reed delivered an address to Council which was approp-
riate to the occasion.
Councillor Thompson thanked Mr. Reed for his services.
;es. 1 Minutes of last Council meetingin December 1957, were read, and
on motion of Councillors Thull and Thompson were accepted as read.
Res. 2 Moved by Councillors Thompson and trull that Rule 33 be suspended
for this meeting.
Res. 3 Moved by Councillors Smith and Trull that Township Solicitor and
Tm-nship Clerk be instructed to prepare a brief for 1Y117. Weir, re Sissons application
and to ask Mr. 'Weir for an opinion on the matter.
By-law 2085 By-law to Regulate the use of land and the erection, use, bulk,
height and location of buildings in the Township of Darlington, was given its
several readings on :notion, and ordered to be signed, sealed and numbered 2085.
Res. 7 Moved by Councillors Smith and Trull that Reeve and Treasurer be
authorized to sign cheques for wages and salaries due on the 15th. of January and on
the 15th. of each succeeding month during 1958•
Res. 8 Moved by Councillors Trull and Smith that this Council give tentative
approval to the hiring of Architects byr the South Darlington Area School Board for
the planning of a two-room addition to the Board' s school at Mitchell' s Corners.

Res. 9 Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that Clerk be instructed to
advertise for Tenders for crushing gravel approximately 30000 Yards, 11000 yds
9000 yds 12- " ,10000 3/8" , bidders to quote price off belt, stockpile at site and
price for crush and deliver on road. Work to commence immediately.

Res. 11 Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Thompson
Resolved that R.W.Nichols and W.E.Rundle. are hereby
authorized to certify as to the permanancy of Employees of the Tokmship of Darlington_
in accordance with the Unemployment Insurance Act and Regulations thereunder.
Res. 12 Moved by Councillors Smith and Thompson that Road. Supt. be authorized
to sell old board snow fence to David Craig.
Res. 13 Moved by Councillor Thompson and Deputy Reeve Rickard that Fred G.
Smith and Road Supt. be authorized to clean up Forestry Lot at Lot 15, Con. 4.
Reeve' s Moved by Councillors Smith and Trull that Allan Thompson be appointed
asARepresentative to Regional Planning Board.
Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Trull that Fred G. Smith
and Allan Thompson be appointed Representatives to Darlington Planning Board.
Moved by Councillors Trull and Thompson that V.E.Cookson be appointed
to the Darlington Planning Board.
