Darlington Township Council met in the Municipal Building on the above date
with all Members present, Reeve Nichols presiding.
Moved by Councillors Trull and Thompson that the minutes of previous meeting
be accepted as read.
Moved by Councillors Thom�,son and Trull that Clerk confer with Mr. Mc Ewen
P.S.I. with the intent of arranging a meeting of School Boards from S.S.# 17, and S.S.# 19
re Hogevoarst children.
Messrs Collacutt and Preston appeared to discuss future widening of Ormiston
Street with Council.
Reeve .0rown, Clarke Township appeared to discuss Boundary Road Expenditure
with Council.
RES. 1 Moved by Councillor Thompson and Deputy Reeve Rickard that this Council
agree to a joint expenditure with Clarke Township of approximately X3000.00, this
Township to contribute $700.00"to the cost of surfacing approximately 1 mile North
from No. 2 Highway, and the balance of .12300.00 on the boundary road North of the Fifth
as agreed upon by the Road Supt.s, of the two Townships and Mr. Smith.
Mr. Pen Caverly visited Council with a representative of a Fire Extinguisher
Company and demonstrated equipment.
Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Trull that General Accounts
in the amount of $11137.17 be paid as presented.
Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that Road Accounts in the amount of
be paid as presented.

Darlington Township Planning Board that consent be given to Keith Ormiston to sell
approximately three acres to South Darlington School Area Board in Lot 30, Concession 1,
Darlington.
RES. 3 Moved ]py Councillors Thompson and Trull that this Council give tentative
approval to the proposal of the South Darlington Twp. School Area Board to issue debentures
in an amount sufficient to cover the cost of erecting a two-room school in Lot 30, Con.l,
Darlington.
Moved by Councillors Trull and Smith that this Council grant $25.00 to the
South Ontario Agricural Society in 1958.
Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that Clerk be instructed to write
to Municipal Planning Consultants Ltd. authorizing that Company to give this Township
as a reference.
Moved by Councillor Smith and Deputy Reeve Rickard that application of
Bell Telephone Co. to erect one pole on road between Lots 20-21, in Con. 4,1 subject to
approval of Road Supt.
RES. 4 Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that Reeve and Clerk be authorized
to execute an agreement between the Township and Bowmanville Rotary Club
to lease to the Club about 20 acres of land in Lots 1 � 2, Concession 9, for 15 years
for the nur-nose of grovring Christmas Trees.
Moved V. Councillors Thompson and Smith that Rule 33 be suspended for this
meeting.
By-law to set rates of taxation for the Township for 1958, and to impose
a 2% penalty for non-payment of same was given its several readings , asr?per motions
BY-LA's 2097® attached, and ordered signed, sealed and numbered 2097.
By-law to appoint a Weed Inspector for the Township for 1958 was, on motion

A By-law to establish a Community Uentre at Tyrone was given its
BY-LAW 2096 several readings as per motions attached, and ordered signed, sealed and numbered 2096.
A By-law to establish a Community Centre at Hampton was given its
several readings as per motions attached and ordered to be signed, sealed and
BY/LAVI 2095. numbered 2095.
Moved by Councillor Trull and Deputy Reeve Rickard that ?10.00 Membership
Fee be paid to Assessing Officers of Ontario.
Moved by Councillors Trull and Thompson that a quantity of steel "NO
Dumping' signs be pilrchased, also "Warning ng " sign4s for School areas.
Moved by Councillors Trull and Smith that W.L Lycett be authorized
to buy furniture for the Assessor s office at a cost of not over $ 390.00
Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Thompson that the Reeve
and Councillor Smith and Thompson be a Committee with power to approve a Plan
for Sub-division road requirements.
Clerk was instructed to write a letter to United Counties as directed (�
by Deputy Reeve Rickard.
Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that Clerk be authorized to
`sell benches and chairs in old Township Hall.
BY-LA's 2098 A By-law to establish "Through Highways" was on motion, given its several
readings and ordered signed, sealed and numbered 2098, and forwarded to the Minister of
Highways for approval.
