Res. 5848 Moved by Councillors Trull and Thompson that minutes of two previous meetings be accepted as read. 584-9 Moved by Councillor Smith and Deputy Reeve Rickard that Road accounts in the amount of 1890432�be passed as presented, 5850 Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Smitn that General Accounts be passed as presented with the exception that Relief cheques for Lavery, Lane,Shirk, Whalen9and Grant, be investigated before being forwarded. Messrs H, Skinner and W.R.Pickell called to dicsuss roadside weed spraying with Council. The matter was referred to the Agriculture Committee, Mr. F. Partner appeared to complain about the condition of the Town Line Road. , (East) Mr. D. Barton complained as to the condition of narrow road on hill. The complaint was referred to the Road Superintendent. It was decided to hold a joint meeting of Council and Planning Board on May 21, at 2 P.M. to discuss road closing at Highway L;Ol with Officials from the Department of Highways. Messrs. Coombs and Hobbs attended re proposed Public School Building at Mitchell's Corners. 5851 Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Thompson that the Council authorize the South Darlington Township Area School Board to let a contract to build a two room addition to Mitchell's Corners School at a cost of $23000.00 Mr. Jas. Anderson called on Council proposing to establish a NIE4 dog pound in Hampton. Clerk was instructed to check on authority for By-laws governing the matter. 5852 Moved by Councillors Smith and Trull that Reeve and Clerk be authorized to issue cheque to Canada Life Assurance Cc to cover cost of Group Insurance Plan for Township Employees, and that Treasurer be authorized to deduct individual payments from wages and salaries. 5853 Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that this Township contribute a sum 1.. t o m a e no exceeding X15,00 per month to the cost of care for Claud Smith, Enniskillen. The matter of John Eeuves application to Planning Board to be allowed to build a house on a lot 52 X 250 was discussed and no action taken. 5854 Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that this Council recommend to Planning Board that consent be given to Halliday, Lot 31, Con. 4, to sell a lot with 70 ft. frontage provided that both Halliday and Roberts are able to purchase property in the rear of their lots, so that all three lots extend south to the north limit of S.S.12 School grounds. A delegation from Newcastle presented the views of their Village on the location of the proposed High School. 5855 Moved by Councillors Thompson and Trull that the Clerk write to the District High School Board, strongly protesting the erection of a new High School in this Area until due consideration has been given to population density and transportation costs, and that this Council will not approve of any Debenture issue under present conditions. Clerk was instructed to write to Bowmanville to arrange for a delegation to meet Town Council at its next meeting re Boundary Road.
