HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 11-05-59 i Hampton, November 5, 1959® Darlington Township Council met in the Council Chambers, Hampton, on the above date, with all members present, Reeve Nichols presiding. 59-11-1 Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Smith that the minutes of two previous meetings, October 1, and October 124-, be adopted as read. 59-11-2 Moved by Councillors Trull and Smith that Clerk forward the report of the Meadows Associates on the Courtice Road overpass to the B',oard of Transport Commissioners. 59-11-3 Moved by Deputy Reeve :Rickard and Councillor Thompson that this Council hereby approve of the proposal of the Canadian Pacific Railway Co. according to plan IVI-55-18-15, July 30, 1959, this approval given without prejudice to the present,proposal to establish a road overpass over the Railway Campany' s tracks on Courtice Road. 59-11-4 Moved by Councillors Thompson and Trull that this Council give tentative approval of the proposal of the South Darlington Township School Area Board to finance the building of four classrooms, two at each a at West Maple Grove and West Courtice, in this area, and that the Clerk be instructed to request preliminary approval of the Ontario Municipal Board for the issue of debentures to meet the cost thereof of approximately $50,000.00- 59-11-5 Moved by Councillors Smith and Trull that the Road Accounts, in the amount of 96,721.38, be paid as presented. 59-11-6 Moved by Councillors Thompson and Smith that the General Accounts, in the amount of $4,128784, be paid as presented. 59-11-7 Moved by Councillors Thorapson and Smith that the Welfare Accounts, in the amount of $1,311.32, be paid as presented. 59-11-8 Moved by Councillors Smith and Trull that the Clerk be instructed to inquire from the Department of Municipal Affairs as to whether or not that the V $400 payments coiLld or should be refunded and consult Township Solicitor on the matter. Mr. 3stabrooks attended Council to discuss the organization of Courtice Fire Department. A letter from the Township Solicitor was read interpreting the legislation covering the matter. Clerk was instructed to contact Work-mans Compensation Board re: covering of firemen before organization of District. 59-11-9 Moved by Councillors Trull and Thompson that, R. W. ?Nichols, G. B. Rickard, Allan E. Thompson, E. B;. Trull, and F. G. Smith be, and are hereby appointed members of the Court of Revision for this Township, and that the Court shall now convene. 59-11-10 Moved by Deputy Reeve Rickard and Councillor Thompson that the list of amendments to the tax roll presented to this Court by W. L. Lycett, Assessor, be approved and accepted, and that the tax roll of this Municipality be amended accordingly, and that a copy of this list be attached to the Official Minutes of this Court. - 2 - 59-11-11 Moved by Councillor Trull and Deputy Reeve Rickard that W. R. Pickell, Weed Inspector, be paid $100.00, plus mileage for 1959- 59-11-12,13,14 On Motions as attached, a by-law to amend B'y-law 2111, as amended by 3y-law 2136 By-law 2126, was given its several readings, and ordered signed, sealed, and numbered 2136. 59-11-15 Moved by Councillors Smith and Thompson that this meeting adjourn to Wednesday, November 11, 8:00 P.M. si / eve Clerk s a
