Darlington Township Council met in the Municipal Building on
this date, all members present, Reeve Rickard presiding.
62-6-1 Moved by Councillor Cornish and Deputy Reeve Blanchard that,
in Res. 62-5B-4, the name of Mr. Rickard be added to those in favour
of the motion.
62-5-2 Moved by Councillors Smith and Cornish that the minutes of the
meetings of May 17th and May 24th be adopted as read and corrected.
62-6-3 Moved by Councillors Smith and Muir that Road Accounts in the
amount of $201647.2$,v\be paid as presented.
62-6-4 Moved by Deputy Reeve Blanchard and Councillor Cornish that
General Accounts in the amount of $ 15,222.22 (General $7,493.77,�
Special $7,728.45)2 be paid as presented.
62-6-4 Moved by'°Councillors Cornish and Smith that the Clerk be
instructed to check at the Registry Office to determine the width of
streets in the Ormiston plan.
62-6-5 Moved by Councillor Smith and Deputy Reeve Blanchard that a
study be made of all Township roads in residential zones that are
less than 66ft. in width, with a view to amending the zoning By-law to
allow building on those that can be serviced at their present width,
and widening of others where possible.
62-6-6 Moved by Councillors Cornish and Smith that the Road Committee
and the Road Superintendent or his assistant be instructed to carry out
the survey mentioned in the previous motion, and that they be
authorized to employ any engineer they deem advisable.
62-6-7 Moved by Deputy Reeve Blanchard and Councillor Muir that the
Insurance report presented by Mr. McLellon and Mr. White be accepted,
and that the Municipalityts Coverage be placed on that basis..
62-6-5 Moved by Councillors Cornish and Smith that Mr. L.
Haunsberger' s request for road improvement be referred to the Road
Committee for report as soon as possible.
62-6-9 Moved by Deputy Reeve Blanchard and Councillor Cornish that
a copy of a letter from Strike & Strike re Haunsberger, be forwarded to
Mr. Haunsberger.
Mr. Kirkton and Mrs. Budai spoke on behalf of the Bowmanville
Rifle & Revolver Club.
62-6-10 Moved by Deputy Reeve Blanchard and Councillor Muir that
Council negotiate with the property owners on the 9th line west of Jas.
McLaughlin about 15 mile, for the purpose of road widening.
Mr. Pethick, Warble Fly Inspector, presented his report.
62-6-11 Moved by Councillors Cornish and Smith that the application
of C. Pethick for a temporary building permit, be referred to the
Township' s Solicitor for advice.
62-6-12 Moved by Councillor Muir and Deputy Reeve Blanchard that
approval of the Ontario Department of Highways be requested for the
extension of the gravel crushing contract of the United Counties of
Northumberland & Durham. with Frank S. Coyle, at unit bid prices, for the
crushing of approximately 101000 yds of gravel.
62-6-13 Moved by Councillors Smith and Muir that approval of the
oiling contract of the United Counties of Northumberland & Durham with
W. A. Ryder to include approximately 11 miles of Township roads, be
requested. Prices on above not to exceed that paid by the Counties.
62-6-14 Moved by Councillors Muir and Smith that the tender of
Dickson Equipment Limited to supply a four wheel drive Trojan Loader at
$13,130.35 be accepted, subject to the approval of the Ontario Depa rtment
of Highways.
62-6-15 Moved by Deputy Reeve Blanchard and Councillor Muir that weed
spray be purchased from J. F. Heyland and H. Gibson.
62-6-16 Moved by Councillors Smith and Cornish that this meeting
adjourn to June 15th at 1;30 p.m.
