The Inaugural Meeting of Darlington Township Council was held
in the Xuniciynl Building on this date Pith all members - elect attending.
The following, having been elected, subscribe? to the statutory
declaration of office and assumed seats as members of Council for the
yea! 1963. Reeve, A. L. Blanchard, Deputy-Reeve H. C. Muir, Councillors,,
Carl Down, Richard Gibbs and Mrs. diary T. Budai. Rev. Mr. Page of
Hampton United Church addressed Council, and offere6 prayer, and was
suitably thanked by Deputy-Reeve Muir. Members of Council and Ex Reeves
G. B. Richard and W. R. Pichell also addresse? Council.
63-1-1 Moved by Councillors Budai and Gibbs that the minutes of the
meetings of December 21th and December 31st be adopted as read.
63-1-�2 Moved by Councillors Gibbs and Down that the Reeve and Deputy-
Reeve be a striking committee to draft a slate for Committees of
Council for 1963.
63-1-3 Loved by Deputy Reeve Muir and Councillor Budai that this
Council adjourn for a short time to permit the striking committee to
complete its slate. I
Council resumed at 2: 25 p.m. Reeve Blanchard in the chair.
63-1-,4 Moved by Councillor Gibbs ant Deputy Reeve Muir that this
Council accept with regret the resignation of Fred G. Smith as this
Township' s member on the Central Late Ontario Conservation Authority.
63-1-5 Moved by Deputy Reeve Muir and Councillor Gibb that the
following committees be appointed as standing committees of Council for
1963, the Reeve to act on all Committee, and the. first named to be
Chairman, Finance Down and Bu6ai, Roads Ruir an? Gibbs, aylaws &
Le&islatioi_Budai and Hair, Qyq2jj1yL&_QrQultqre Gibbs and Down.
63-1-6 Moved by Deputy Reeve Muir and Councillor Budai that rule 33 be
sus pended for the duration of this meeting.
63-1-75s,9 On motions as filed, a By-law to authorize the borrowing of sums
not exceeding 1450,000.00 was given its several readings, signed, seplY,
and numbered 2231.
63-1-10 Moved by Councillors Down and Budai that, in the year 1963, the
Reeve and Treasurer be and are hereby authorized to issue cheques for
wages and salaries at the rates established by Council, such payments
to be for wages and salaries earned from the first to the fifteenth of
each month.
63-1-11 Hoved by Councillors Gibbs ant Budai that the accounts for the
month of December, 1962 be paid as presented. 0111, 572-95) v�
63.1.12 Moved by Deputy Reeve Kuir and Councillor Budai that the
Road Superintendent be authorized to have the necessary repairs made to
the international 1955 track
63-1-13 Moved by Deputy Reeve Muir and Councillor Gibbs that tenders
and specifications be prepared for the purchase of a new two-wheel drive
truck with snow plow and wing, subject to the approval of the Ontario
Department of Highways.
63-1-14, Moved by Councillor Budai and Deputy Reeve Hair that the Road
Supt. be authorized to purchase 10 tons of salt.
63-1-15 Moved by Councillor Down and Deputy Reeve Muir that the next
mee ting of Council be held on January 24th, 1963 at 1: 30 p.m.
