TENDER CL2000-20, SELF CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-48-00 be received;
2. THAT Acklands-Grainger Inc., Richmond Hill, Ontario, with a total bid in the amount of
$24,705.25 (including taxes), being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender CL2000-20, be awarded the contract to supply and
deliver nine (9) self contained breathing apparatus as required by the Municipality of
Clarington, Fire Department; and
/
3. THAT the required funds be provided from the approved 2000 Fire Department Capital
Budget Account #7102-00001-0504.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and issued for the supply and delivery of nine (9) Self
Contained Breathing Apparatus as required by the Fire Department. Subsequently, tenders were
received and tabulated as follows:

The total funds required will be drawn from the approved 2000 Fire Department Capital Budget
Account #7102-00001-0504 and are within the $28,0000.00 budget allocation as reflected on
Page 144 of the 2000 Capital Budget.
As the existing units are outdated and of no value to the Municipality, it is recommended that the
trade-in be accepted.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation.
Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc., should be referred to the Fire
Chief.
The subject firm have previously performed satisfactorily for the Municipality of Clarington.
After further review and analysis of the tender by the Fire Department and Purchasing, it was
mutually agreed that Acklands-Grainger Inc., Richmond Hill, Ontario. Be recommended for the
contract to supply and deliver nine (9) Self Contained Breathing Apparatus to the Municipality
of Clarington, as required by the Fire Department.
