REPORT Report #: May 15, 2000 TR-20-2000 File # F/fTr Res. #(!:PfJ -2~-Ob Meeting : General Purpose and Administration Committee Date: FILE#: By-law # Subject: CL2000-6 - RE-CONSTRUCTION OF NEWCASTLE TENNIS COURTS Recommendations: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. THAT Report TR-20-2000 be received; 2. THAT Bennett Paving and Materials Limited, Oshawa, Ontario with a total bid in the amount of $96,193.00 (Including G.S.T.), being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of Tender CL2000-6 be awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the Newcastle Tennis Courts; and 3. THAT the funds expended be provided from the 2000 Public Works Capital Budget Account # 7603-00100-0516. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the reconstruction of the Newcastle Tennis Courts, as required by the Department of Public Works. Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows: BIDDER Bennett Paving and Materials Limited Oshawa, Ontario TOTAL BID $96,193.00 The required funds will be drawn from the approved Public Works Capital Budget amount # 7603-00100-0516 and are within the total budget allocation of $100,000.00 which is reflected on Page 215 of the Capital Budget. Note, for the information of Council, $12,000.00 was identified for project administration that will not be required. 807 A " ,.."....,., :i.e..,.' < REPORT NO.: TR-20-2000 PAGE 2 The low bidder has previously performed satisfactorily for the Municipality of Clarington. As the equipment for this project is somewhat specialized there are only a couple of contractors in the immediate area, able to perform this work. The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc., should be referred to the Director of Public Works. After further review and analysis of the bids by both Purchasing and Public Works it is recommended that Bennett Paving and Materials, Oshawa, Ontario be awarded the contracts of the reconstruction of the Newcastle Tennis Courts.
