EARLY TENDER CALLS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-78-00 be received;
2 . THAT staff be authorized to advertise and issue vehicle tenders in advance of the
2001 Capital Budget approval for the requirements identified in the body of this
report; and
3. THAT this process be approved for the balance of the term of this Council.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
The 2000 Capital Budget is tentatively scheduled for presentation to Council in
February 2001. Due to the early cut-off date for tendering vehicles and the lengthy lead
times, there are certain capital requirements that require pre-budget approval to allow
tendering to take place as soon as possible.
Pre-budget approval is therefore requested for the following items.
Y, Ton Truck $30,000.00 Replaces 1992 Chev
1 Ton Truck $35,000.00 Replaces 1992 Chev
Van $35,000.00 Replaces 1993 GMC
1 Ton $35,000.00 Replaces 1994 GMC
1 Ton $35,000.00 Replaces 1994 GMC
Tandem Truck $150,000.00 Replaces 1990 International
1 Ton $35,000.00 Replaces 1991 Chev
2 Ton Dump $35,000.00 Replaces 1991 Chev
1 Ton $35,000.00 Replaces 1991 Chev
Single Axle Plow Truck $150,000.00 Addition to Fleet

Pending Council approval for an early tender call on the above items, it is anticipated
that the tenders will be advertised in January. A subsequent report, where required by
the purchasing by-law, with recommendation for an award will be presented for
approval by Council.
