Fire Department Report
1. Protected Properties - Received requests from three local Companies
Delta Faucet, Hollingshead Co. Ltd. and "owmanville Mall(Simpson Ave.)
for connection into the Municipal Fire alarm Control Panel. This has
been a standard practice, no cost to the "Onicipality with a fee of
$ 25. per year to the subscriber.
2. Fire Station No. 2, Newcastle Village have a problem with vehicles
making a U turn and tearing up the drive-way and parking area.
Request considering installing legal No U Turn signs ?
3. Fire station No. 2, Newcastle Village request from Nel Gor Nursing
Home and Southaven Nursing Home for a direct line to the Fire
Department (Bell Canada signal line and relay to operate fire siren)
no cost to the 1'�,inicipality.
4. Request permission to install department sign on Hall 2 building,
above apparatus bay overhead doors, 15 inch black letters, raised
" FIRE STATION NO. 2 " cost is included in alterations debenture
figure. (quote to follow).
5. Fire station No. 2 Newcastle - painting and finishing is progressing
favourably and should be completed within the next 2 weeks. We
will require stacking chairs, desk, filing cabinet and swivel chairs.
Mr. Grant Coopor of J. Anderson Smith wishes to donate 1100.
towards these items, there is also a small amount in the 1976
budget available ($ 250.)
6. Apartment Redecorating Hall 4 2 - Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller are
redecorating the apartment, material supplied by the Corporation as
per resolution :iW-31-76 at a cost of approx. $265. 1 to date $ 4,395.72)
Mr. hriller would like to know particulars on paying rent, when
available etc.
7. Hall 4 3 Orono - Resignation of John Forrester, request approval of
application for Terry W. Hardy as replacement volunteer fireman.
Subject to 6 months orobation period.
8. Hall A I Bowmanville - Received resignation from volunteer. fireman
Steven Oke - request approval for replacement fireman, subject to
medical examination and 6 months probation period.

9. information - Retirement banquet Hall & 2 Volunteers October 169 1976.
for Lawrence Gaines and Harold Couch volunteer firemen. Recognition
for services rendered from Town of Newcastle ?
10. Town of Newcastle fire departments are participating in training
exercises9 Oshawa Training Bunkerg 4 exercises one night a month.
I pumper unit and 5 members per session.
11. Request from J. Robinson, Jaycees for approval to block off +emperance
St. from king to Church Sts® for one week. Fire department must
have access in case of emergency within that block ( no large
unmovable objects blocking all of the travelled portion of the streW
