Mr. Donald Allin, Chairman ,Cbmmunity Services Committee Town of Newcastle RE: Newcastle Village Works Shed Dear Don: On inspecting the metal works shed on Caroline Street West in the village of Newcastle, in regards for use as a fire station. The existing building is approximately 361X321 , 1152 sq. ft. 21IX611 wood framing, covered with metal sheeting, two overhead doors, situated opposite the present arena, with a very narrow street. The minimum recommended floor space for a single fire company is 3,650 sq. ft., a Class A fire pumper requires a floor displacement area of 16 ft. X 34 ft. Other requirements are apparatus room, electrical and heating rooms, toilet facilities, watch room, and office, training and meeting room and possibly a small kitchen. It can readily be seen that the existing building would be completely inadequate for use as a fire station. Trusting you will give this matter extensive planning and research before proceeding with required upgraded fire emergency services for the present and future area use. I remain. Yours truly, /1 0-11111 -1-- J]_ s"E. Ha man R Area Fire Chief.
