TENDER CL2004-20, PLUMBING SERVICES
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report COD-033-D4 be received;
2. THAT Jack Burgess Plumbing, Bowmanville, Ontario, with bid prices of $44.00 per hour
for Journeyman Plumber and $30.00 per hour for Journeyman Plumber's Apprentice be
awarded the contract to provide Plumbing Services, as required by the Municipality of
Clarington;
3. THAT pending satisfactory pricing and service the contract be extended for a second
and third year; and
4. THAT the funds expended be drawn from the various Current Budget Accounts.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited to provide Plumbing Services as required
by the Municipality of Clarington for the period of May 2004 to April 30, 2005, with
prices remaining firm for a one year period. There is an option to extend the contract
for a second and third year pending satisfactory pricing and service.
Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule "A" attached.
The bid price for Journeyman Plumber represents an approximate 16.5 percent (16.5%)
increase in the hourly rates over the 2001 contract prices. The required funds will be
drawn from the various years Current Budget Accounts.
For the information of Council, the Municipality of Clarington paid approximately
$118,162.00 to Jack Burgess Plumbing for Plumbing Services during 2003. This
$118,162.00 is comprised of approximately $83,357.00 for labour and
$34,805.00 for parts.
The subject firm have provided satisfactory service to the Municipality of Clarington in
the past.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing, Operations and Community
Services Departments, it is respectfully recommended that
Jack Burgess Plumbing, Bowmanville, Ontario, be awarded the contract to provide
Plumbing Services to the Municipality of Clarington, as required.
