Subject: MONITORING OF THE DECISIONS OF THE COMMITTEE OF
ADJUSTMENT FOR THE MEETING OF NOVEMBER 1, 2001
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PSD-041-01 be received; and
2. THAT Council concur with decisions ofthe Committee of Adjustment made on
November 1, 2001 for applications A2001/050, A2001/053, A2001/056 to
A2001/059. inclusive, and that Staff be authorized to appear before the Ontario
Municipal Board to defend the decisions of the Committee of Adjustment.

1.0 APPLICATION DETAILS
1.1 All applications received by the Municipality for minor variance are scheduled for a
hearing within 30 days of being received by the Secretary-Treasurer. The purpose
of the minor variance applications and the Committee's decisions are detailed in
Attachment 1. The decisions of the Committee are detailed below.

1.2 Application A2001/050 was tabled at the Committee of Adjustment meeting held
October 18, 2001, to allow the applicant time to verify the actual distance between
the building to be used for a farm use and the rear (south) property line. The
applicant did confirm with Staff the measurement of 9.75 metres (32 ft) was correct.
Committee of Adjustment approved the application.
1.3 Application A2001/053 was tabled at the Committee of Adjustment meeting held
October 18, 2001, as the applicant was required to amend the application. Staff
noted during the site inspection that the sketch submitted by the applicant did not
identify all the accessory buildings and structures on the property. The application
as amended, was approved.
1.4 Application A2001/056 was required to be amended by the applicant after Staff
noted that the sketch submitted by the applicant did not identify all the accessory
buildings and structures on the property. The amended application has been re-

circulated, a new sign erected and new public notice given for a Committee of
Adjustment meeting on November 15, 2001.
Council's concurrence with the Committee of Adjustment decisions to table is
required in order to afford Staffs official status before the Ontario Municipal Board
in the event of an appeal of any decision of the Committee of Adjustment.
1.5 The Committee of Adjustment considered application A2001/057, for an increase in
lot coverage by accessory buildings to 74%, was not minor as applied for.
However the applicant and Committee agreed upon an increase to 55% providing
the applicant removes the existing sheds and plants coniferous screening within 90
days of the building permit being issued. Although this is not consistent with Staffs
recommendation of denial, the amended application to reduce the amount of
variance, the removal of the existing accessory buildings and the coniferous
screening meets with Staffs approval.
1.6 Staff has reviewed the Committee's decisions and is satisfied that the applications
that received approval are in conformity with the Official Plan policies, consistent
with the intent of the zoning by-law and are minor in nature and desirable.
Council's concurrence with the Committee of Adjustment decisions is required in
order to afford Staffs official status before the Ontario Municipal Board in the event
of an appeal of any decisions of the Committee of Adjustment.
