REPORT No. CSD-07-01 PAGE 2 1.0 BACKGROUND 1.1 The Courtice Community Complex - Fitness Expansion is nearing completion, scheduled to open in the late fall of this year. The 14,640 square foot facility is designed to accommodate up to 2400 members. In order to develop strong membership base, the Fitness Program staff have already met with current members of the Courtice Community Complex Fitness Centre. To continue the momentum and increase membership further, staff will be initiating a Membership Drive for new resident and corporate memberships commencing in the month of November. 2.0 NOVEMBER MEMBERSHIP DRIVE 2.1 November will be the first month in which residents may purchase an annual membership for the newly expanded Fitness Training Facility. The membership drive will begin November 1, 2001. 2.2 As an incentive to join, during the months of November and December, the purchase of an annual Fitness Membership will be valid until December 31, 2002. Members who sign up in November will enjoy a maximum fourteen-month membership program for the price of an annual twelve-month membership. 2.3 In addition to individual memberships, staff recognizes the interest of and opportunity to encourage local business to offer Corporate Memberships to their employees at a discount. During this time period, staff will also commence meetings with those corporations and businesses which express an interest in subscribing to the newly expanded Fitness Training Facility on behalf of their employees. 2.4 All new members will receive a Membership Handbook, which will fully explain all services being offered, and, outlining the Benefits of Membership. 2.5 The Community Services Department will host Special Events to promote the new addition as outlined below. 3.0 NOVEMBER WEEKLY EVENTS 3.1 Week Of November 5, 2001 Public Information Sessions at Courtice Community Complex - residents will have a chance to discover what types of new and extended services will be offered at the expanded centre. There will also be opportunity to purchase individual or corporate memberships during these and all future events. 814 ~1I ' REPORT No. CSD-07-01 PAGE 3 3.2 Week Of November 12, 2001 Members Appreciation Week - current and new members will have the opportunity to experience complimentary Fitness Classes being offered as part of the expanded Fitness Programs at the Courtice Community Complex. 3.3 Week Of November 19, 2001 Wheel of Fitness - Members that join for an Annual Membership during this week will have an opportunity to spin a 'Wheel of Fitness", for a chance to win complimentary fitness-related prizes. 3.4 Week Of November 26, 2001 Draw for Complimentary Equipment Bag - Members (one male/one female) who sign up this week will be eligible for a draw to receive a complimentary equipment bag: to be awarded at the end of November. 3.5 Complimentary Membership As an added incentive, all members who purchase their annual membership between November 1, 2001 and December 31 , 2001; one name will be drawn to receive a complimentary annual membership. This membership may be used to extend their membership, or maybe transferred to a person of their choice. 4.0 CONCLUSION 4.1 The Fitness Training Centre has been designed to accommodate 2400 members. It is expected this membership quota will be reached within five (5) years. It is imperative that Community Services staff, in conjunction with Marketing and Communications Department, commences a marketing program to attract both new as well as maintain current members' interest in the Fitness Training Centre in order to achieve the desired results and membership registration.
