That Report No. ADMIN-13-88 be received for information; and 2. That the Honorable John Eakins be thanked for the invitation to participate in the Heritage Village Program at the Canadian National Exhibition but informed regretfully the Town will be unable to participate this year. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: Correspondence received from the Honorable John Eakins, Minister of Municipal Affairs (attached) inviting municipalities to participate in the Heritage Village Program during the Canadian National Exhibition was subsequently referred to the Chief Administrative Officer for review and report. . ./2 GENERAL PURPOSE & ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE REPORT NO. ADMIN-13-88 PAGE 2. With that direction, staff contacted the respective curators of the Bowmanville Museum and Clarke Museum and Archives to investigate the possibility of the Town's participation at this event. Staff in conjunction with each of the museums investigated the feasibility of preparing a program on behalf of the Municipality. Results were such that the municipality's involvement was not recommended at this time since the type of event was of a performance nature rather than display oriented. It was generally felt that a program of this nature could be possible in future years. However, an extensive amount of preparation time and effort would be necessary for the organization and promotion of such an event. This would require a considerable amount of time to coordinate in order to create a useful impact. In addition, a close examination of the costs required for involvement in this event would be necessary. Accordingly, it is respectfully recommended that the Municipality not participate in this year's event. However, consideration will be given by staff regarding the future involvement of the Municipality in this or similar events.
