REMUNERATION FOR COUNCIL APPOINTEES AND APPOINTMENT OF LIVESTOCK
VALUERS AND FENCE VIEWERS FOR THE YEAR 1987
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that Council approve the following:
1. That Administrator's report ADMIN. 16-87 be received; and
2. That the rate for Committee of Adjustment Members be established at
$27.17 per meeting and $13.59 per inspection for the year 1987•
3. That the rate for Newcastle Community Services Advisory Board Members be
established at $27.17 per meeting and $13.59 per sub-committee meeting for
the year 1987;
4. That the rate for Property Standards Committee Members be established
at $27.17 per meeting and $13.59 per inspection for the year 1987;
5. That the rate for Livestock Valuers be established at $23.98 per
valuation for the year 1987;
6. That the rate for Fence Viewers be established at $21.07 per inspection
for the year 1987; and
7. That the by-laws relating to the appointments of Livestock Valuers
and Fence Viewers w s and the related remuneration attached hereto
be approved and passed by Council.

REPORT:
This report has been presented for Council's consideration in order to deal with the
aspect of remuneration related to appointments to various public positions.
The appointments include the following:
I
1 Committee of Adjustment - 5 Members
2. Newcastle Community Services Advisory Board - 12 Members
3. Property Standards Committee - 5 Members
4. Livestock Valuers - 3 Appointments
5. Fence Viewers - 4 Appointments
It would be appropriate for Council to consider the annual adjustment for these
appointments at this time. The respective rates for the above appointments for
1986 have been adjusted to reflect an increase of 4.50% for the year 1987 as reflected
in the above recommendations. In addition, it would be appropriate for Council
to pass the necessary by-laws required to give effect to Council's decision as
related to Livestock Valuers and Fence Viewers.
Copies of the appropriate by-laws are attached for Council's information.

THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW 87-105
being a by-law to appoint Livestock Valuers
and to fix their remuneration
WHEREAS Section 11(1) of The Dog Licensing and Livestock and Poultry
Protection Act, Chapter 123, R.S.O. 1980, provide that the Council of
every municipality shall appoint one or more persons as valuers of
livestock and poultry for the purposes of this Act.

NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the following are hereby appointed as Livestock and Poultry
Valuers under the authority and for the purposes of the Authority
and for the purposes of the Dog Tax and Livestock and Poultry
Protection Act:
Sidney Worden
Arnot Wotten
Henry (Harry) Worrall
2. THAT the said Valuers shall receive the sum of $23.98 per valuation when
actually engaged in performing their duties as Livestock Valuers.
3. THAT they continue in effect until they are re-appointed or replacements
are appointed to the office.
4. THAT By-law 86-7 of the Town of Newcastle is hereby repealed.

THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW 87-106
being a by-law to appoint Fence Viewers in
the Town of Newcastle and to fix their
remuneration
WHEREAS Section 2 of The Line Fences Act, Chapter 242, R.S.O. 1980,
provides that the Council of every local municipality shall, by by-law,
appoint such number of Fence Viewers as are required to carry out the
provisions of the Act and the By-law shall fix the per diem remuneration
to be paid to the Fence Viewers:
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE HEREBY
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the following are hereby appointed as Fence Viewers in the
Town of Newcastle:
Arthur Hamilton R.R. #5, Bowmanville
H. Bruce Tink R. R. #1, Hampton
Maurice O'Neill R. R. #1, Newtonville
By-law Enforcement Officer, Town of Newcastle
2. THAT the remuneration of the said Fence Viewers be fixed at
$21.07 per application when actually engaged in performing their duties
as Fence Viewers.
3. THAT they continue in office until they are re-appointed, or
replacements are appointed to the office.
_ 4. THAT By-law 86-6 of the Town of Newcastle is hereby repealed.
