SALE OF BLOCK 74, R.P. 1OM766
TO W. E. ROTH CONSTRUCTION LIMITED
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . That report ADMIN. 63 - 86 be received; and
2. That the General Purpose and Administration Committee review the
decision to dispose of Block 74, R.P. 1OM766.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Council , at the meeting of July 28th 1986 received the Administrator's
report ADMIN. 58 - 86 and authorized the sale of Block 74 to W. E. Roth
construction Limited subject to the acquisition of an appraisal . The appraisal
was comleted and showed that the price offered was slightly lower than the
appraised value.
The offer was not signed back to W. E. Roth Construction Limited at a higher
price. Rather, the offer was allowed to lapse, and Mr. Roth was advised of
the reasons. More particularly, the offer wasnot accepted because of the
concerns expressed by the area residents about the fact that the parkette
was not to be constructed and the lands sold for development. Several residents
called and reported that the parkette was a selling feature and one of the main
reasons for buying in the development. Councillor Cowman met with a number
ADMIN. 63 - 86 -2-
of the residents on Thursday, August 14th 1986 at which meeting, the
residents again expressed their concern about the possibility of their
losing the parkette.
With Councillor Cowman 's concurrence, it was decided that the matter of the
disposal of Block 74, R.P. 1OM766 should be brought back to Council (through
G.P. & A.) for a further review and, to provide the area residents with an
opportunity to voice their concerns to all of Council.
