LOW RISE REHABILITATION PROGRAM OF THE MINISTRY OF MUNICIPAL
AFFAIRS AND HOUSING
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that Council receive Administrator's report
ADMIN. 50 - 86 for information.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Early last week staff were advised by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing
officials that the Town had received an allocation of 30 units under the Low Rise
Rehabilitation Program. Staff have been contacted by approximately 20 property owners
who have expressed interest in the program. Staff will be meeting with those
interested landlords on Wednesday, May 28th 1986 to discuss in greater detail the
program requirements. While the initial publication of the notice and the handling
of landlords inquiries was co-ordinated by my office, the administration of the program
will , for the most part, fall to the Chief Building Official , Mr. Howard Wight.
This is in accordance with Mr. Wight's revised job description. Mr. Wight will be
attending the Wednesday meeting so that those involved in the program will have the
continuity of meeting Howard prior to my departure.
