Subject: OPPORTUNITY TO USE APPROXIMATELY 10,000 TONNES OF
RECLAIMED ASPHALT PAVEMENT

Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following.
1. THAT Addendum to Report WD-18-95 be received for information.

1.0 ATTACHMENTS
No. 1: Report WD-18-95 dated March 31, 1995
2.0 BACKGROUND
2 . 1 At a special meeting of the General Purpose and Administration
Committee held on March 31, 1995, Report WD-18-95 (Attachment
No. 1) was approved.
2 .2 Report WD-18-95 recommended that staff be authorized to issue
a purchase order at an estimated cost of $90,000 to prepare
and apply the Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) .

2 .3 On July 27, 1995, the Municipality of Clarington Public Works
Department was informed that the Highway 35/115 resurfacing
project has been indefinitely suspended and the approximate
quantity of 13,000 tonnes of Recycled Asphalt (RAP) previously
promised will not be available.

2 .4 Report WD-18-95 recommended the waiving of the Purchasing By-
law in this instance and is now no longer applicable.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS
3. 1 The funds estimated in the amount of $90,000 are no longer
required to be transferred to the special project as described
in Report WD-18-95. Instead, these funds will remain in
Account No. 7205-01003-0261, to be used as originally
budgeted, for surface treatment of various Municipal roads as
dictated by the Road Needs Study.
