1.0 BACKGROUND
1. 1 Clarington Rodeo Days

Championships to be held on the weekend of September 22, 23
and 24 at the Fairgrounds in Orono. The purpose of this
report is to advise Council of a planned Media Presentation to
be held on Thursday, August 24, 1995, and to obtain approval
to close Temperance Street during this presentation.

The plans have not yet been finalized but the presentation
will include the presence of animals, such as horses, as well
as special western demonstrations and musical entertainment.
In addition to inviting representatives from the many news
medias (including radio, television and newspapers) from both
local and the surrounding area, it is intended that the public
will also attend and participate in this event. As the event
is scheduled to take place in the Town Square, it is necessary
to close Temperance Street to ensure the safety of all those
participating.
i
2 .2 Access to the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce Parking lot
will be maintained as it was for the Clarington Day at the
C.N.E. press event in 1994 . This will ensure that C.I .B.C.
customers have access to this area with the necessary
barricades being placed on Temperance Street at the north
limit of the parking lot. Also, a sign will be placed at the
Temperance Street/King Street intersection to advise the
public that Temperance Street is closed to through traffic.
