THAT Report WD-36-95 be received; 2. THAT Temperance Street be closed from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 1995, between King Street and Church Street; and, 3. THAT the Director of Public Works make the necessary arrangements for the closure. REPORT 1.0 BACKGROUND 1. 1 Clarington Rodeo Days As Members of Council are aware, the Municipality of Clarington is an active partner in the upcoming Ontario Rodeo Championships to be held on the weekend of September 22, 23 and 24 at the Fairgrounds in Orono. The purpose of this report is to advise Council of a planned Media Presentation to be held on Thursday, August 24, 1995, and to obtain approval to close Temperance Street during this presentation. 2.0 REVIEW AND COMMENT 2 . 1 The aforementioned media presentation is to be held from approximately 11:00 a.m. to 2 :00 p.m. on the date indicated. In addition to inviting representatives from the many news medias (including radio, television and newspapers) from both local and the surrounding area, it is intended that the public will also attend and participate in this event. As the event is scheduled to take place in the Town Square, it is necessary to close Temperance Street to ensure the safety of all those participating. i 2 .2 Access to the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce Parking lot will be maintained as it was for the Clarington Day at the C.N.E. press event in 1994 . This will ensure that C.I .B.C. customers have access to this area with the necessary barricades being placed on Temperance Street at the north limit of the parking lot. Also, a sign will be placed at the Temperance Street/King Street intersection to advise the public that Temperance Street is closed to through traffic. Respectfully submitted, Reviewed by, Stephen A.
