Subject: HOLIDAY GARBAGE COLLECTION
CHRISTMAS TREE COLLECTION
YARD WASTE COLLECTION
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report WD-37-93 be received for information.

1.0 ATTACHMENTS
No. 1: Yard Waste Advertisement
No. 2 : Brock West 1993 Holiday Schedule
2.0 HOLIDAY COLLECTION
2 . 1 Due to the closure of the Brock West Landfill Site (see
Attachment No. 1) on Thursday, November 11, 1993, and Friday,
December 241 1993, garbage collection will be rescheduled to
the following:

a) Garbage scheduled to be collected on Thursday, November
11, 1993, will be collected on Monday, November 15, 1993;
and
b) Garbage scheduled to be collected on Friday, December 24,
1993, will be collected on Friday, December 31, 1993 .
2 .2 On Friday, December 31, 1993, there will be a double
collection; therefore, the maximum number of bags and/or
containers which a resident can place at the curb is ten ( 10) .
To insure that the garbage is picked up, the garbage must be
put curbside before 7 :00 a.m.
An advertisement will be placed in the local newspapers at the
appropriate time.
3.0 SPECIAL CHRISTMAS TREE COLLECTION
3. 1 A special Christmas tree collection will be made for one ( 1)
day only on January 10, 1994 .
4.0 YARD WASTE COLLECTION
4 . 1 The collection of leaves, brush and garden waste will be made
on Mondays only commencing Monday, October 25, 19 9 3, up to and
including November 29, 1993, between the hours of 7 :00 a.m.
and 6 :00 p.m.
Leaves, garden waste and brush placed curbside should meet the
following requirements to ensure pick-up:
a) Leaves and garden waste should be placed in clear plastic
bags weighing no more than fifty (50) pounds .

b) Brush should be bundled and tied in lengths not to exceed
four (4) feet and weighing no more than fifty (50)
pounds .
4.2 An advertisement (Attachment No. 2) will be published in local
papers informing the public of the special yard waste
collection.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC
SPECIAL YARD WASTE COLLECTION
Browning-Ferris Industries (B.F. I . ) will be collecting
brush, leaves and garden waste in accordance with the
following schedule:
Monday, October 25, 1993
Monday, November 1, 1993
Monday, November 8, 1993
Monday, November 15, 1993
Monday, November 22, 1993
Monday, November 29, 1993
Leaves and garden waste must be in clear plastic bags
weighing no more than fifty (50) pounds . Brush should be
bundled and tied in lengths not exceeding four (4) feet
and weighing no more than fifty (50) pounds.
