Re: Highway 2 at Holt Road u
Request for Traffic Signals
This is in response to your letter of February. 8, 1991, requesting
information concerning requirements for traffic signals at the
above noted intersection.
Based on sideroad counts conducted on Holt Road in 1987, there
would not appear to be a need for traffic signals at this
intersection. For four-way intersections the ministry generally _
requires a 24 hour sideroad volume of 2400 vehicles or greater to
justify doing an 8 hour turning movement count. Our 1987 sideroad
count resulted in an Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) of 1443
for Holt Road. As we are not aware of any additional major traffic
generators having appeared on Holt Road since 1987, we do not feel
there is a need to conduct a turning movement count at this time.
In conclusion, the Highway 2 and Holt Road intersection is
currently operating to our satisfaction under the existing stop
condition. We will update our counts on Holt Road this year,
however, and notify you if further action is being contemplated.
I trust this is satisfactory.
Yours truly,
Peter Dorton ATTACHMENT NO. 3
