HomeMy WebLinkAboutWD-45-91 J TOWN OF NEWCASTLE r e 1 REPORT File #� IYZ .Z (� t Res. # By-Law # MEETING: GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE [ATE: MAY 21, 1991 REPORT #: WD-45-91 FILE #: RC-36-02 SUBJECT: PROVISION OF CONSULTING ENGINEERING SERVICES - PRESTONVALE ROAD, COURTICE RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. THAT Report WD-45-91 be received; 2 . THAT the firm of D. G. Biddle and Associates Limited be retained to furnish professional engineering services for the detailed design and contract administration during construction of Prestonvale Road from Phair Avenue southerly to Bloor Street (Regional Road 22) ; and 3 . THAT the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute an Engineering Agreement with D. G. Biddle and Associates Limited. -------------------------------------------------------------------- REPORT 1.0 ATTACHMENT No. 1: Key Map 2.0 BACKGROUND 2 . 1 Provision has been made in the 1991 Capital Budget for the design of Prestonvale Road from Phair Avenue southerly to Bloor Street. . . .2 ' J REPORT NO. : WD-45-91 PAGE 2 3.0 COMMENT 3 . 1 D. G. Biddle and Associates Limited are Engineering Consultants for owners of the developments on the west side of Prestonvale Road. Since D. G. Biddle and Associates Limited have been so actively involved in this area and already have a database of engineering knowledge of the existing drainage proposals and future works anticipated, it is desirable to retain this Engineering Consultant to carryout the design for the reconstruction of Prestonvale Road. 3 . 3 Our staff have dealt extensively with D. G. Biddle and Associates Limited on large residential developments in various areas within the Town of Newcastle, but especially Courtice, Bowmanville and Newcastle Village. We have been pleased with their performance and have found their work very satisfactory. 3 .4 The Town of Newcastle has an agreement with Totten Sims Hubicki and Associates Limited which outlines the terms and conditions for their services to the Town. The agreement with D. G. Biddle and Associates Limited will be on the same basis as the agreement with Totten Sims Hubicki and Associates Limited.
