CONCESSION ROAD 6, FORMER TOWNSHIP OF DARLINGTON
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report WD-38-91 be received for information.

2.0 BACKGROUND
2 . 1 At a regular meeting held on January 15, 1991, Council passed
Resolution #GPA-41-91:
"THAT the Director of Public Works consider a
request to put large Stop signs at the intersection
of Enfield Road and the 6th Concession"

3.0 REVIEW AND COMMENT
3. 1 As this is a Regional intersection, a letter expressing Council's
concerns was forwarded to Mr. Dave McMullen, Manager, Traffic
Division, Region of Durham, for review and response (Attachment
No.2) . In his letter, Mr. McMullen advises that the Region has
examined the intersection of Regional Road 34 (Enfield Road) and
that the installation of oversize Stop signs is not warranted
(Attachment No.3) .

On January 15, 1991, Council passed the following resolution:

Pleaso quoto our ref: Foxmer Township of Dar_ling ton
We have reviewed your request of ,January 24, 1991
regarding larger stop signs at the above-noted
intersection. Our policy is to install 60 cm x 60 'cm
signs at intersections of local and Regional Roads
unless special circumstances, such as limited site
distance or accident frequency and type, dictate
otherwise.
our review of the intersection shows that site
distance is in excess of +400 m in bath the east and
west directions and the accident history does not
indicate a safety problem. We will, therefore, not be
upgrading the signing in this location.
