" 3.0 REVIEW AND COMI ENT 3. 1 A field investigation was carried out by Public Works Staff to determine the limits of the existing sidewalk on Highway No.2 in Courtice and the areas of significant pedestrian activity (Attachment No. l) . 3 .2 Sidewalk presently exists on the north side of Highway No.2 from Townline Road easterly to Centerfield Drive and on the south side of Highway No.2, from Townline Road easterly to Darlington Boulevard. 3 . 3 The pedestrians from the new developments in the Prestonvale Road, Sandringham Drive and Trulls Road areas are using the south boulevard on Highway No.2 to access the Courtice downtown core. The construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Highway No.2 from Trulls Road westerly to link with the existing sidewalk at Darlington Boulevard is warranted. 3.4 There is sufficient boulevard on the south side of Highway No.2 to locate a sidewalk. Approval from the Ministry of Transportation for the location of the sidewalk on Highway No.2 has not been requested. However, no difficulties are anticipated to obtain their approval. 3 .5 The construction of approximately 1,650 metres (5,412 feet) of sidewalk on Highway No.2 from Darlington Boulevard easterly to Trulls Road is estimated to cost $200,000 . . . . 3 REPORT NO. : WD-34-91 PAGE 3 4.0 CONCLUSIONS 4 . 1 In order to meet the needs of the pedestrians from the developments in the area of Prestonvale Road, Sandringham Drive and Trulls Road, it is proposed that a new sidewalk be constructed on the south side of Highway No.2 from Trulls Road westerly to Darlington Boulevard. 4 .2 The earliest that this project can be scheduled in the Five Year Capital Program is 1993 .
