THAT Report WD-40-92 be received for information; and 2 . THAT a copy of Report WD-40-92 be forwarded to all residents who attended the Information Centre held on February 12, 1992 . ---------------------------------------------------------------- REPORT 1.0 ATTACHMENTS No. 1: Location and detail plan No. 2 : Notice of Information Centre 2.0 BACKGROUND 2 . 1 Provision was made in the 1992 Capital Budget and Four Year Forecast for the reconstruction in 1992 of Concession Street from Mann Street easterly to 235 metres east of Mearns Avenue in Bowmanville. 2 .2 An Information Centre was held at the Municipal Administrative Centre between the hours of 4 :00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on February 12, 1992 . /2 ) REPORT NO. : WD-40-92 PAGE 2 2 . 3 This project consists of the reconstruction of Concession Street to a complete 10 . 0 m urban collector road standard, including grading, granular base and sub-base, curb and gutter, hot mix asphalt, sidewalks and storm sewers . 2 .4 The Information Centre was well received by the residents and they voiced an appreciation in having an opportunity to view the conceptual plans . 2 .5 There were two (2) minor concerns raised by the residents regarding this project and they were: (a) The control of dust and local traffic for the duration of the project; and (b) The elimination of existing sump pumps and replacement with gravity storm sewer service connections . 2 . 6 The residents were advised that the contract for this project had provisions for the application of calcium chloride and water to control dust and that our site inspector would monitor the dust levels and, when necessary, apply calcium chloride or water. The residents were also advised that storm sewer service connections have been designed and included in this project for each residence, to replace the existing sump pumps . M DATE: APRIL 1992 m ATTACHMENT N0. 1 WD-40-92 0 i THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE . INFORMATION CENTRE RECONSTRUCTION OF CONCESSION STREET IN BOWMANVILLE . The Corporation of the Town of Newcastle has tentatively scheduled the reconstruction of Concession Street in Bowmanville, from 15 metres east of Mann Street to 120 metres west of Soper Creek Drive and the realignment of Mearns Avenue from 85 metres south of Concession Street to 170 metres north of Concession Street,in 1992. The proposed work will include road excavation,placing granular road base,curb and gut- ter, storm and sanitary sewers, watermains, sidewalks and placing of hot mix asphalt. Concession Street will be widened to a 10 metre pavement width. You are cordially invited to attend an Information Centre between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00.p.m.,on Wednesday,February 12, 1992 at the Administrative Centre,Town of New- castle,40 Temperance Street,.Bowmanville,Ontario,in Meeting Room 2. Preliminary plans for the proposed reconstruction will be available for your review and staff will be on hand to answer questions. Input from the Public is respectfully solicited.
