Subject: REMOVAL OF TREE BARRICADES
BOWMANVILLE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report WD-88-92 be received;
2 . THAT the Director of Public Works be authorized to remove the
tree barricades in the Bowmanville Business Improvement Area
with the exception of those barricades which are protecting
small trees;
3. THAT the tree barricades be stored for possible future use by
the Business Improvement Area; and
4 . THAT Mr. Garth Gilpin, Secretary-Treasurer of the Bowmanville
Business Improvement Area be advised of Council's decision and
be provided with a copy of Report WD-88-92 .

REPORT
1.0 BACKGROUND
1. 1 At a regular meeting held on Monday, November 9, 1992, Council
passed to following Resolution:
"THAT the Director of Public Works meet with
representatives from the B. I .A. and advise
them that we wish the fencing removed from the
trees in the downtown area as they are
becoming a nuisance value and costly and we
feel they are no longer needed. ",

2.0 REVIEW AND COMMENT
2 . 1 In accordance with Council direction, I attended a regular
meeting of the Board of Management of the Business Improvement
Area held on Tuesday, November 10, 1992 . After some
discussion the Board of Management passed a resolution that
the tree barricades be removed with the exception of those
which are protecting immature trees which will be identified
by a member of the Board of Management.
It was also agreed that the Public Works Department would
store the barricades for possible future use.
