NEWCASTLE ARENA EXPANSION ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report COD-022-01 be received;
2. THAT Barry-Bryan Associates (1991) Ltd., Whitby, Ontario, with a total bid (including
disbursements) in the amount of $29,300.00 + GST, being the lowest responsibie
bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of RFP2001-10 be awarded the
contract for the architectural services for the Newcastle Arena Expansion;
3. THAT the total funds be charged to account number 7028-00001-0501 with the financing
drawn from the Impact / Escrow Reserve Fund approved by Council in Report CSD-05-
01; and
4. THAT the attached By-law, marked Schedule "A" authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to
execute the agreement be approved; FORTHWITH.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
A request for proposal was issued with firms being invited to submit on providing architectural
services for the Newcastle Arena Expansion. Subsequently, only one proposal was received as
follows:
Barry-Bryan Associates (1991) Ltd.
Whitby, ON
The required funds will be drawn from the Newcastle Arena Expansion Account # 7028-00001-
0501 with financing drawn from the Impact I Escrow Reserve Fund Account as approved by
Council in Report CSD-05-01.
The Director of Finance has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the
recommendation.
After further review and analysis of the submissions, the firm Barry-Bryan Associates (1991)
Ltd., Whitby, Ontario, are recommended for the contract to provide architectural services for
the Newcastle Arena Expansion.
The subject firm has previously provided satisfactory similar service for the Municipality of
Clarington.

Schedule "A"
THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON
BY-LAW 2001-
Being a By-law to authorize a contract between the
Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington and Barry-Bryan
Associates (1991) Ltd., Whitby, Ontario, to enter into an
agreement for architectural services for the expansion of the
Newcastle Arena Expansion.
THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON HEREBY ENACTS
AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the
Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington with the Corporation Seal, a contract
between Barry-Bryan Associates (1991) Ltd, Whitby, Ontario, and said
Corporation; and
2. THAT the contract attached hereto as Schedule "A" form part of this By-law.
