REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 13, 1982.
REPORT NO. WD-70-82.
SUBJECT: BY-LAW 79-1 (PARKING AND STOPPING) .
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1 . That this report be received, and;
2. That the attached by-law, being an amendment to By-Law 79-1 ,
be passed by Council in order to control parking on Baseline
Road, in the geographic Township of Darlington, from a point
249 meters west of the road allowance between Lots 30 & 31 ,
westerly, for a distance of 622 meters.
BACKGROUND AND REPORT:
With some regularity, the Town receives complaints about parked
vehicles, on Baseline Road, in the vicinity of Dom's Auto Parts
Limited. This has been a problem for some years and, in September,
1978, By-Law 78-92 was enacted to prohibit parking on both sides
of Baseline Road in that area. Subsequently By-Law 79-1 was passed
which repealed all
p previous by-laws, including By-Law 78-92.
The General Provisions of By-Law 79-1 , covering such matters as
parking restrictions due to insufficient shoulder width, etc. ,
seem to cover the situation at Dom's Auto Parts Limited, and

BY-LAW NUMBER 82 -
being a by-law to amend By-Law No. 79-1 , being
a by-law to provide for the regulating of parking
and stopping on highways or parts of highways
under the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the
Town of Newcastle.
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
deems it expedient to amend By-Law 79-1 , as amended;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Newcastle ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
(1 ) THAT Schedule "A" to By-Law 79-1 is hereby amended by adding
thereto the following:
"(Miscellaneous Locations) - NO PARKING.
Column 1 Column II Column III Column IV
Highway Side(s) Between Times/Days
Base Line Road Both 249 meters(815 ft. ) At Anytime.
Geographic west of the Road
Township of Allowance between
Darlington. Lots 30 & 31 , for a
distance of 622 meters
(2,039 ft. ) westerly.
